What is a Satsang?
Satsang is a Sanskrit word which consists of two roots, sat meaning truth and sangha meaning community or company. Therefore Satsang can be translated to mean being in the company of truth or genuine people. It is widely used to refer to a gathering of like-minded, uplifting, spiritual people or seekers of truth, who are on the path of love and compassion.
Traditionally in Hindu or Buddhist cultures Satsang referred to a gathering in the presence of an enlightened being or guru. However today and more so in the West, Satsang has evolved into gathering in spiritual reflection, meditation, discussion and connection within a community of Oneness.
Satsangs can be extremely profound in releasing the ego and connecting to the Self, the Oneness of life and Universal Love. Offering unity and support, encouraging us to act in a more compassionate and loving way. Not just within the group but also within the world we exist. It is believed that when surrounded by others who are committed to bringing out the best in each other, profound awakening can occur and a sense of peace may be felt within.
Our Community
Each Satsang will begin with a short guided meditation to release anything heavy and negative we may be holding. Bringing our awareness inwards, allowing space for love and compassion to grow so we can find healing within our Self. Our Satsang's are a time of release, reflection, awareness, universal love and peace.
After our meditation we will explore inspirational and spiritual quotes or readings, taking time to reflect and share our perspectives or feelings. We may explore a few mantras and how we can bring these into our daily lives and then create our own mantras that can help us assimilate that which we seek into our lives. We may explore journaling or different forms of gratitude practices, how we can better prepare ourselves to exist within our current world in a loving and compassionate way. Most importantly we will connect with each other and just be, creating presence in a loving space of awareness.
Our meetings will take place at the studio or the surrounding area in nature such as the beach or park, in the woods or even around a bonfire. Weather depends on where we meet. We will explore different forms of meditation such as walking in meditation, hiking through the woods, breath awareness on the beach, grounding practices with the Earth or water foot baths. So many options
to explore as we journey together.
This group is about connection and unity, spreading compassion and love only. Each meeting will bring new discoveries for us All and everyone is welcome to contribute. There is no cost associated with our meetings. We will meet on the first and third Friday of the month, every Satsang meeting will be posted on The Bodhi Tree Calendar.
In memory of Sasha
This group was created in memory of Sasha Hites, a beautiful soul who presented in my life and allowed me to connect more deeply to mySelf in Universal love, opening to a more awakened existence. He knew the significance of love, truth and awareness; creating unity of All in One. He mirrored the true meaning of Satsang to the world.
Sasha had the ability to profoundly connect to people on a level that allowed them to accept themselves and just be who they are. He offered peace to their being in a space without expectation or judgement. He created a feeling of community with every aspect of his being, accepting everyone he met with compassion and love. I truly believe he was and still is a being of light, on this Earth to help souls find healing within and evolve into their true Self.
We meet to honour the light that exists within us All. To provide a healing space of kindness, peace, awareness and compassion. Creating a community of Oneness in Truth as Sasha believed we are All capable of being.
Om Shanti Sasha
